LuxuryTarangire National Park safaris
Known for elephant herds that gather at the river in the dry months, and for some of the largest baobab trees on the continent. Quiet, beautiful, and consistently underrated.

Visiting Tarangire National Park
Tarangire is famous for its elephants and its giant baobab trees. In the dry season the Tarangire River is the only reliable water for a wide area, and large elephant herds, buffalo, zebra and wildebeest gather along it, with lion and leopard close behind. The birdlife is excellent all year.
When to go
June to October is the best time for big numbers of animals near the river. In the green season the herds spread out, the scenery turns lush and the park is very quiet.
Why include it
Tarangire is about two hours by road from Arusha, which makes it an easy first or last stop on a northern circuit safari with Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. It is far less busy than the better known parks, and it gives a relaxed start before the longer drives further west.
Ask us about a private Tarangire, Ngorongoro and Serengeti route, or a short Tarangire stay before a Zanzibar beach holiday.
