Mount Kilimanjaro safaris
Africa’s highest peak. The Marangu and Machame routes usually take six to seven days, and a summit attempt needs good fitness, a medical check and time to acclimatise; altitude affects everyone differently. We arrange climbs with licensed mountain operators, or a day walk from the park gate.

Visiting Mount Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro is Africa's highest mountain and the world's tallest free standing peak. You do not need technical climbing skills, but a summit attempt is a serious undertaking that needs good fitness, a medical check, the right equipment and time for your body to adjust to altitude.
Choosing a route
The Marangu and Machame routes are the best known, and longer routes with more days on the mountain give the body more time to acclimatise, which improves the chance of reaching the summit. Climbs are run with licensed mountain operators and guides, and we arrange them as part of your wider trip.
When to go
The drier months, roughly January to March and June to October, are the usual climbing seasons. Rain and cloud are more likely in the long rains.
Not climbing?
A day walk from the park gate, or the classic view of the mountain from Amboseli in Kenya, lets you enjoy Kilimanjaro without the climb. Ask us how to combine a climb with a safari or a Zanzibar beach rest afterwards.
