Kidepo Valley safaris
Uganda’s wildest corner, up against the South Sudan border: lions, buffalo and elephant in landscapes that feel untouched. For travellers who want the off-grid version.

Visiting Kidepo Valley
Kidepo Valley in the far northeast of Uganda is one of Africa's most remote and beautiful parks. Wide valleys ringed by mountains hold lion, cheetah, elephant, buffalo, zebra, giraffe, ostrich and species seen nowhere else in Uganda, and you may have sightings entirely to yourselves.
Getting there
Most travellers fly in by light aircraft from Entebbe or Kampala, since the drive is long. Accommodation is limited, so it is best booked early.
When to go
The dry season, roughly September to March, concentrates wildlife around the remaining water in the Narus Valley and gives the best game viewing.
Who it suits
Kidepo is ideal for travellers who have already done the classic parks and want wilderness without crowds. Visits to the nearby Karamojong and Ik communities can be arranged respectfully through local guides.
