Mid-rangeAmboseli National Park safaris
Big elephant families on open plains with Kilimanjaro towering behind them. The most photographed view in East Africa, and deservedly so.

Visiting Amboseli National Park
Amboseli is the park for the classic view of elephants walking beneath Mount Kilimanjaro. Swamps fed by the mountain's snowmelt keep it green through the dry season, drawing large elephant families, buffalo, hippo, zebra, wildebeest and rich birdlife, with lion and cheetah on the open plains.
When to go
The dry months from June to October and January to February give the clearest game viewing. Kilimanjaro is most often visible early in the morning and late in the afternoon, so we plan drives around those hours.
Getting there and how long
Amboseli is about four to five hours by road from Nairobi, or a short flight. Two nights is ideal. It pairs well with Tsavo and the coast, or crosses easily into northern Tanzania through the Namanga border for a combined Kenya and Tanzania safari.
Ask us to add Amboseli to a Maasai Mara or Tsavo safari.
