Mara Explorer Camp

Mara Explorer Camp is a small camp on a bend of the Talek River in the Ol Kiombo area of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, a short drive from Ol Kiombo airstrip. Its location inside the reserve, in an area with a high concentration of wildlife, makes for rewarding game drives, and the Mara River crossing points are within easy reach during the July and August migration. There are just ten tents, each with a wooden veranda looking over the river where animals often appear. Each tent has a claw foot bathtub outside on the deck. The lounge and dining area overlook the river, and evenings centre on the fire pit. There is no pool at camp, but guests can use the one at the sister camp nearby. Guided nature walks just outside the reserve with an armed ranger, bush dining and balloon flights add variety. As a quiet camp aimed at adults, it suits couples, honeymooners and older teenagers.
