Satao Elerai Camp
Elerai Conservancy, bordering Amboseli National Park
Satao Elerai Camp is an eco-friendly lodge on a private conservation area of around 5,000 acres bordering Amboseli National Park, within the community-owned Elerai Conservancy. Its setting gives wide views across the Amboseli plains to Mount Kilimanjaro, which is often clearest at sunrise and sunset. Accommodation is in deluxe tents and cottage rooms, and the infinity pool also faces the mountain. A floodlit waterhole beside the lodge draws a steady stream of animals, especially in the mornings, and resident elephants are often seen from camp. Being on a conservancy rather than inside the park opens up activities that the national park does not allow. Guided walking safaris, including walks with Maasai warriors, reveal the smaller details of the bush, and night drives search for nocturnal species such as serval, genet, civet and aardwolf. Daytime game drives head into Amboseli, famous for its elephant herds. Village visits, sundowners and private bush dinners round off the experience, and your stay supports the local Maasai community who own the land. Children are welcome, making it a good choice for families as well as couples and photographers.
