Safari & beachZanzibar safaris
A short flight from Arusha: white-sand beaches, spice farms, and Stone Town’s Swahili alleys. The standard add-on to any northern Tanzania safari.

Visiting Zanzibar
Zanzibar is the classic beach finish to an East African safari. White sand, warm Indian Ocean water and reefs for snorkelling and diving sit alongside Stone Town, a UNESCO World Heritage old town of Swahili houses, carved doors, markets and narrow lanes.
Where to stay
The north and northwest coasts have beaches that are swimmable through most of the tide. The east coast is quieter, with wide lagoons and big tidal ranges. Stone Town is best for one or two nights of culture, food and history.
Getting there
Zanzibar is a short flight from Arusha, the Serengeti, Dar es Salaam or Nairobi, so it joins easily onto any Kenya or Tanzania safari. Remember that the Tanzania government inbound travel insurance also applies on arrival in Zanzibar.
When to go
June to October and December to February are the driest and most popular months. The long rains around April and May bring lower rates and some lodge closures.
Ask us to add three to five nights on Zanzibar, or nearby Pemba, to your safari.
