Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge
Central Serengeti National Park, Kyabatero Hills north-west of Seronera
Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge sits on a rise among acacia trees in the Kyabatero Hills of the central Serengeti, north-west of Seronera, with long views across the plains. The central Serengeti has good game viewing all year, with resident lion, leopard and cheetah, and the great migration passes through the wider area at certain times of year. The lodge, which opened in 1996, is designed to resemble a Maasai village, with thatched buildings joined by stone pathways beside papyrus-fringed streams. Guest rooms are in two-storey thatched rondavels, each with a small balcony, and some rooms interconnect for families. A large semi-circular swimming pool overlooks the plains, and the nearby viewpoint is a good place for a sundowner, often accompanied by a traditional Maasai dance in the evening. Massages are available, and meals are served indoors and out. Activities include game drives, birdwatching and hot air balloon safaris. Children of all ages are welcome, so the lodge works well for families, as well as for first-time visitors wanting a comfortable base for two nights or more.
