Samburu Simba Lodge
Samburu ecosystem, overlooking the Ewaso Ng'iro River and Buffalo Springs
Samburu Simba Lodge sits in the arid north of Kenya, looking out over the Ewaso Ng’iro River and the Buffalo Springs area, in the heart of the Samburu ecosystem. This is dry, rugged country, and the river is its lifeline, drawing elephants, which can sometimes be seen from the rooms, along with the special northern species that make Samburu so rewarding, such as reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, beisa oryx and gerenuk. The lodge offers 70 rooms set in double-storey villas, each en suite with high ceilings, dark wood finishes, tea and coffee facilities and a private balcony or veranda. The open-plan restaurant serves buffet meals with views across the plains, and the Ibis Pub and the swimming pool are both popular spots for watching the sunset. Game drives leave straight from the lodge, and visits to local Samburu communities can be arranged to add a cultural dimension. It suits travellers wanting to see a very different side of Kenya from the southern parks, as well as families and photographers.
