Asilia Rekero Camp
Maasai Mara National Reserve, Talek River
Rekero Camp is a small, classic tented camp set on the banks of the Talek River inside the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Its position puts guests near three regular river crossing points, so during the wildebeest migration, roughly June to October, it is a very good base for watching crossings and the predators that follow the herds. Accommodation is in nine spacious safari tents with en suite bathrooms, including family tents with an extra twin room for children. The camp is run on solar power and lit by kerosene lamps in the evening, in keeping with its simple style, with a dining tent, bar and a separate tent for Wi-Fi. Activities include game drives, full day excursions, guided walks, birding, bush meals, sundowners, stargazing and cultural visits, and hot air balloon flights can be arranged. Rekero is seasonal and closes from March to May. It suits families with children, keen wildlife watchers and photographers who value expert guiding and a front row seat for the migration.
