Primate Lodge Kibale
Inside Kibale National Park, near Kanyanchu chimpanzee trekking base
Primate Lodge Kibale is an eco lodge set within Kibale National Park in western Uganda, surrounded by one of the region’s last great tracts of lowland and montane rainforest. Its biggest draw is location: the chimpanzee trekking starting point is only a few minutes’ walk away, so you can be on the trail early with very little travel. Accommodation ranges from safari tents on raised wooden platforms with thatched roofs, en suite bathrooms and shaded verandas, to private forest cottages, and there is also the Sky Tree House, built into a large tree about ten metres above an elephant meadow for a night with a difference. The main area has a restaurant, bar and sheltered lounge with a small library. Beyond the morning and afternoon chimpanzee treks, guests can go birdwatching in a forest home to over 300 species, take early morning or night forest walks, and visit nearby tea plantations and local communities. The lodge suits primate enthusiasts, nature lovers and adventurous travellers who want to wake up in the heart of the forest.
