Oliver’s Camp
South-eastern Tarangire National Park
Oliver’s Camp is a small, traditional tented camp in the little visited south eastern part of Tarangire National Park, beside a permanent wetland that keeps wildlife close throughout the year. This remote corner of the park is far from the busier northern circuits, making it a rewarding place for unhurried game viewing, especially in the dry season from June to October when large herds of elephants gather. There are just 10 tents, with thatched roofs, solid wooden furniture, en suite bathrooms with outdoor showers and private verandas looking over baobab studded plains. Family tents sit a short distance along the river overlooking the Minyonyo Pools. A lounge, library tent, fireside area and lookout deck for sundowners complete the camp. Walking safaris are a speciality, alongside game drives, night drives, birding and dinners under the stars, and hot air ballooning can be arranged. Oliver’s suits walking enthusiasts, birdwatchers and travellers seeking a traditional, Out of Africa style camp, and children are welcome.
