ol Donyo Lodge

ol Donyo Lodge is a Great Plains Conservation lodge on the slopes of the Chyulu Hills in southern Kenya, set on the Maasai owned Mbirikani Ranch between Amboseli and Tsavo. The hillside position gives wide views over the plains towards Mount Kilimanjaro. There are just eight suites plus a two bedroom family suite, each with its own plunge pool, verandas and a rooftop star bed for sleeping out under the African sky. In front of the main area a waterhole draws a steady stream of animals, and two hides, including a sunken one at eye level, let you watch and photograph them up close. Because this is private land, the activities go well beyond the usual game drive: night drives, walking safaris, horseback rides for experienced riders and mountain biking are all possible, with helicopter flights available if booked in advance. Guests can also visit Maasai homesteads, local schools and the Kimana market. ol Donyo works well as a first or final stop on a Kenya safari and suits families, honeymooners, active travellers and photographers alike.
