Naivasha Kongoni Lodge
Lake Oloiden, Lake Naivasha area
Naivasha Kongoni Lodge is a relaxed, simple lodge in the Lake Naivasha area of Kenya’s Rift Valley, overlooking Lake Oloiden, a smaller lake beside Lake Naivasha. The lodge sits in around ten acres of gardens, grassland and acacia woodland, where zebra, wildebeest, impala and giraffe can be seen on foot, and the birdlife is plentiful. Accommodation is in stone cottages with two bedrooms each, decorated with stacked stone walls, handcrafted wooden furniture and four poster beds draped in nets. A few luxury cottages add a lake view veranda, an indoor jacuzzi and a private plunge pool. Much of the food comes from produce grown on the property, served in the Red Cliff Restaurant with its terrace for meals outdoors, and there is a swimming pool in a quiet corner and a lookout for sunsets. Activities include boat rides on the lake, cycling, guided walks and birding, a day trip to Hell’s Gate National Park for hiking, and a tour of a nearby flower farm. Kongoni suits couples and travellers who want a slower, peaceful break between busier parks on a Kenya safari.
