Matemwe Lodge

Matemwe Lodge is a relaxed beach lodge on the quiet northeast coast of Zanzibar, set beside the small fishing village of Kigomani and between two stretches of white sand. It is a good place to rest after a safari on the mainland. The lodge has twelve standalone bungalows, each with an en suite bathroom and a private veranda facing the Indian Ocean, where you can watch the local fishing boats come and go. An extra single bed in the suites makes them workable for small families. A multi level swimming pool with a poolside bar sits under the palms, and the restaurant and lounge share the same ocean views. The reef lies close by, so snorkelling straight from the beach and guided reef walks are easy, while boat trips explore the waters around Mnemba Atoll and diving can be arranged with a professional dive centre for beginners and experienced divers alike. Dolphins are sometimes seen offshore. On land, there are spice tours and trips to Stone Town. It suits honeymooners, couples and families looking for beach time after the bush.
