Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge
Inside Lake Nakuru National Park, on hills along the western side of the lake
Lake Nakuru Sopa Lodge sits on the hills along the western edge of the Rift Valley, inside Lake Nakuru National Park and high above the lake at around 2,000 metres. The access road runs through the park, so the drive in is also a game drive, and the elevated setting gives wide views over the lake, the forest and the plains. Lake Nakuru is known for its birdlife, with more than 450 recorded species, and for mammals such as white rhino, buffalo and the rare Rothschild’s giraffe. Every room has a balcony and full-length windows facing the park, and from some balconies you can watch animals coming to drink at a nearby waterhole. Rooms include doubles and twins, singles and two rooms adapted for wheelchair users, with triples and cots on request. The infinity pool, with a separate children’s pool, faces the view, and the lounge, bar and restaurant open onto sheltered terraces. Nature walks are offered within the grounds. The lodge suits families, birdwatchers, photographers and travellers wanting a stop with a view on the way to the Maasai Mara.
