Fundu Lagoon
Pemba Island, Zanzibar Archipelago
Fundu Lagoon is a secluded beach resort on Pemba Island, the quieter and greener northern neighbour of Zanzibar. It sits on a private beach that can only be reached by boat, which keeps it quiet and private. Accommodation is in suites and bungalows linked by wooden walkways. Beachfront superior suites have two terraces, a lounge area and a private plunge pool, while hillside rooms sit among the trees with indoor and outdoor seating and a walk-in shower. The waters around Pemba are known for diving, and the resort has its own PADI dive centre for scuba trips and snorkelling over shallow coral lagoons. Other activities include kayaking, windsurfing, dolphin trips, fishing, sunset dhow cruises, a visit to Misali Island, a spice farm tour and walks in Ngezi Forest. Back at the resort there is an infinity pool, a seaside pool, a spa, a restaurant and three bars, including one at the end of the jetty, and candle-lit dinners on the sand can be arranged. Fundu Lagoon suits honeymooners, divers and anyone wanting quiet beach time after a safari.
