Elewana Tortilis Camp Amboseli
Kitirua Conservancy, bordering Amboseli National Park
Elewana Tortilis Camp lies just outside Amboseli National Park in the private Kitirua Conservancy, one of the last stretches of unspoilt woodland in the Amboseli ecosystem. The camp looks straight towards Mount Kilimanjaro, and the views of the snow-capped summit from the lounge, bar and dining area are the stuff of safari dreams. There are 16 tents, each on a raised wooden deck under a thatched roof, with a large veranda and an en-suite bathroom. Families have a two-bedroom family tent, and there is also a separate private house with two bedrooms and its own sitting and dining area, sharing a pool with the family tent. The main camp has a swimming pool too. Amboseli is famous for its large elephant herds, and game drives in open vehicles explore both the park and the conservancy. Because the camp is outside the park, guided bush walks with Maasai guides are possible, and village visits can be arranged. The kitchen draws on a large organic garden for fresh salads and vegetables, homemade pasta and bread. The camp runs on solar power. Tortilis suits photographers, families and couples.
