Cottar’s 1920s Camp
Olderkesi Conservancy, bordering the Maasai Mara
Cottar’s 1920s Camp is a traditional, family-run safari camp in the private Olderkesi Conservancy, which borders the Maasai Mara National Reserve. Guests have access both to the conservancy, with its savannah, riverine woodland and hills, and to the reserve itself, giving you both private game viewing and the wildlife of the main reserve. The camp recreates the golden age of East African safari, with vintage furniture, wicker chairs, wood-burning stoves and canvas tents filled with old-world charm. There are 11 private tents, each with an en-suite bathroom and a deck or veranda facing the wilderness, and a stone swimming pool for warm afternoons. Private guided game drives explore the conservancy and reserve, and there are guided walks to learn about plants and their traditional medicinal uses. Guests can also spend time with the Mara’s first all-female ranger unit and join an educational cheetah experience. Bush breakfasts, candlelit dinners in the bush and sundowners served from the Dugu Dugu, a vintage Rolls Royce turned roving bar, add plenty of romance. Cottar’s suits couples, honeymooners, families and lovers of safari history.
