Buhoma Lodge
Buhoma, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Buhoma Lodge is set in Buhoma, on the northern edge of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, just a five minute walk from the park headquarters where gorilla treks in this sector begin. Being so close to the trailhead means an unhurried start on trekking day and a quick return to a hot shower and a warm welcome afterwards. The lodge has eight cottages arranged along a hillside, each spacious and simply furnished, with an en-suite bathroom and a balcony looking out across the valley to the dense rainforest opposite. In the evenings a fire is lit in the main lodge, a cosy spot to share stories of the day’s encounter with the gorillas. In-room massages can be booked, which are especially welcome after a steep trek. Besides gorilla tracking, Bwindi is rich in birdlife and forest walks, and the area offers community visits in Buhoma village. The lodge is also a convenient base for continuing to the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Lake Bunyonyi or Mgahinga. Buhoma Lodge suits gorilla trekkers, couples and anyone wanting comfort right on the forest edge.
