Gorilla trekkingEntebbe and Kampala safaris
Entebbe’s airport sits on a lake peninsula, with botanical gardens, a zoo caring for orphaned wildlife, and the source of the Nile at Jinja, 90 minutes away for white-water rafting.

Visiting Entebbe and Kampala
Entebbe, on the shore of Lake Victoria, is home to Uganda's international airport, so most Uganda safaris start and end here. Kampala, the capital, is about an hour away by road depending on traffic.
What to do
In Entebbe, the Uganda Wildlife Conservation Education Centre and the botanical gardens make an easy first afternoon. Boat trips into the Mabamba swamp on Lake Victoria are one of the best chances to see the shoebill. A boat to Ngamba Island visits a chimpanzee sanctuary.
In Kampala, a guided city tour can include markets, the Kasubi Tombs and the city's churches and mosques, with time for Ugandan food.
How to use it
We usually plan one night near the airport on arrival so you start the safari rested, and leave room for a city tour or Lake Victoria trip at the end if your flight allows.
