LuxuryMurchison Falls National Park safaris
The Nile forces itself through a seven-metre gap in the rocks, making it the world’s most powerful waterfall at that point. Boat safaris below the falls show hippo, croc and elephant from the water.

Visiting Murchison Falls National Park
Murchison Falls is Uganda's largest national park. Here the Nile forces its way through a narrow gorge before flowing on to Lake Albert, and the river divides open savannah to the north from woodland to the south.
What to see
Game drives on the northern bank find elephant, giraffe, buffalo, Uganda kob and lion. A boat trip up the Nile toward the falls passes hippo, crocodile and abundant birdlife, and the delta near Lake Albert is one of the best places to look for the shoebill. A walk to the top of the falls shows the full force of the river.
When to go
The drier months, roughly December to February and June to September, give the best game viewing, though the park is rewarding all year.
Getting there
The park is several hours by road from Kampala or Entebbe, often with a stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary on the way, or a short scheduled flight.
