Sweetwaters Serena Camp
Ol Pejeta Conservancy, Laikipia
Sweetwaters Serena Camp is a tented camp in the eastern part of Ol Pejeta Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau, about 25 minutes from Nanyuki airstrip, with Mount Kenya often visible on clear days. Ol Pejeta is one of Kenya’s leading rhino conservation areas, and white rhino are seen on most drives, with black rhino a rarer prize. The camp’s heart is a floodlit waterhole that draws impala, waterbuck, plains and Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe and occasionally rhino, so there is game to watch even between outings. Standard tents are canvas with en suite bathrooms, while the deluxe Morani wing offers larger, more solid rooms. There is a swimming pool, bar, spa and restaurant. Activities include morning and afternoon game drives, night drives, guided bush walks and birding, and guests can visit the conservancy’s chimpanzee sanctuary and the enclosure that is home to the last northern white rhinos. With its relaxed, sociable atmosphere and child-friendly approach, the camp suits families, first-time safari goers and anyone keen to see rhino up close.
