Mara Serena Safari Lodge
Mara Triangle, Maasai Mara National Reserve, hilltop above the Mara River
Mara Serena Safari Lodge crowns a hilltop in the Mara Triangle, the western sector of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, looking out over a wide bend of the Mara River. The Triangle has only two access gates and is regarded as the most secure part of the reserve, known for its black rhino and offering a front row seat for the wildebeest migration and its river crossings in season. The lodge has 74 rooms, built in a style that echoes traditional Maasai dwellings, each with a small seating area and a balcony facing the plains. The terrace beside the lobby is a fine place to watch the light change over the river, and there is a swimming pool, a bar and a restaurant serving buffet meals. Game drives head straight out into the Triangle, and a hot air balloon launch site is close by for those who want to float over the herds at dawn. Children are welcome, which makes the lodge a practical choice for families, as well as for first-time visitors and travellers wanting a comfortable base during the migration months.
