Swala Camp
Gurusi wetlands, southern Tarangire National Park
Swala Camp, an A&K Sanctuary property, is a small and secluded tented camp in a remote corner of Tarangire National Park, shaded by large acacia trees at the edge of the Gurusi wetlands, with no other camps close by. Tarangire is known for its elephants, and here they are frequent visitors around the camp. There are just nine tents, each with an en suite bathroom and an elevated terrace overlooking a waterhole that attracts wildlife all year round, and every guest is looked after by a personal attendant. An infinity pool also faces the waterhole, so you can keep watching the comings and goings between activities. The camp offers morning and evening game drives in open vehicles, night drives and guided walking safaris, with birdwatching, bush dining and picnics adding variety. Guests can also learn about the camp’s community and conservation projects and visit nearby villages. Swala suits couples, honeymooners and families seeking privacy, personal service and a quieter side of Tarangire away from the busier northern area.
