Samburu Intrepids Tented Camp
Ewaso Nyiro River, Samburu National Reserve
Samburu Intrepids is a tented camp set deep inside Samburu National Reserve, on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River in Kenya’s semi-arid north. Tall acacia trees shade the camp, and the river is a magnet for wildlife in this dry country, so elephants coming down to drink and crocodiles basking on the banks are common sights. The camp has refurbished tents raised on platforms, each with a thatched roof, a private veranda looking towards the river, a four-poster bed with netting and an en suite bathroom. Meals are served in the restaurant, on an open-air deck or on your own veranda, and breakfasts and dinners can be set up in the bush. There is a swimming pool and a bar, where evening talks and slideshows introduce the birds and animals of the area. Its riverside setting inside the reserve makes it a convenient, comfortable base for first-time visitors, families and photographers wanting to explore Samburu on game drives.
