Mara Kimana Camp
Sekenani River, near Sekenani Gate, eastern Maasai Mara
Mara Kimana Camp is a bush camp on the eastern side of the Maasai Mara National Reserve, set in riverine woodland along the Sekenani River and only a couple of kilometres from Sekenani Gate. That short hop means you can be out on the open plains within minutes of leaving camp, looking for lion, cheetah and leopard, and from July to October the migration herds move through the reserve. Elephants often come down to drink at the river beside the camp, and birdlife is plentiful. Guests stay in canvas safari tents raised on platforms, each with a private veranda and an en suite bathroom with hot water showers, with standard and family tents available. The camp has a restaurant, a bar, a small swimming pool and a fire pit, and it runs on solar power. Meals are full board, with bush breakfasts and picnic lunches for long days in the reserve. Hot air balloon flights, bush walks and Maasai cultural visits can also be arranged. It suits families, first time safari travellers and those who want good value close to the reserve.
