Lake Manyara Tree Lodge
Mahogany forest, remote southwest of Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara Tree Lodge is hidden in a mahogany forest in the remote southwest of Lake Manyara National Park, an area far from the busier northern entrance of the park. Staying inside the park means game drives start from your doorstep, through groundwater forest and along the lake shore, in a park known for its abundant birdlife and varied scenery. The lodge has just ten treehouses raised on stilts among the mahogany branches, each screened from the next by leaves and lianas and reached by wooden steps. Inside, large beds draped with mosquito nets are paired with soft furnishings and local carvings, and each en suite bathroom has a Victorian style bath and an outdoor shower, plus a leafy veranda. Every guest is looked after by a personal butler. In the evening, a sandy boma glows with lanterns and fires, and a small swimming pool sits in a forest glade for relaxing after drives. The setting is small and private, which suits honeymooners, couples and anyone wanting a quiet stay.
