Klein’s Camp
Kuka Hills, private concession on the northeastern edge of Serengeti National Park
Klein’s Camp sits just below the crest of the Kuka Hills in a private concession of around 10,000 hectares on the northeastern edge of Serengeti National Park, overlooking a wildlife corridor between the Serengeti and the Maasai Mara. Being on a private concession rather than inside the park allows activities that are not permitted elsewhere in the Serengeti, notably night game drives and extended guided walks, which are a main reason to stay here. Lion, cheetah and leopard are present all year, giraffe and elephant are often seen on the slopes, and twice a year the valleys fill with zebra and wildebeest as the migration passes through. Guests fly to the camp’s airstrip and continue by game drive. The camp has ten stone cottages spread along the ridge, each with its own terrace and wide views across the valleys and hills, and there is a swimming pool to enjoy between activities. The style is that of a comfortable, traditional safari lodge run with a strong focus on sustainability. It suits photographers, keen walkers and repeat safari travellers who want variety and space.
